BIBLIOGRAPHY        APPENDIX        PURPOSEWith the opportunity that has presented itself with the roll out of the NBN, the Federal Governments has taken the initiative to allow small and medium enterprises (SME’s) and the community to understand and gain the opportunities that exist via the “Get Connected” program. This has led to the proposal of the “WanJoo Internet Gateway Project”.OnPoint Consultants have been given the contract to develop a Project Concept document that allows the stakeholders (Internal/external) a clear definition and understanding of the scope involved in delivering the WanJoo Internet Gateway Project. On completion this this project Concept document, the information gathered will be used to aid the decision making process regarding likelihood to take on the WanJoo Internet Gateway Project and initiating the project. BACKGROUNDThe premise of this project is based on the encouragement to uptake the services offered by the national broadband network, to justify the investment made by the Australian government.  The scheme is to connect the community and small and medium enterprises (SME’S) the opportunity to exploit the fast connection offered by the broadband.  The project is being driven by a collaborative effort that involves cities of Joondalup and Wanneroo, the Joondalup business association, Wanneroo business association and Edith Cowan University.  The project should enable both cities to create a brand and build the identity of both the communities.  The project is of a novel nature hence it is not easy to find past examples of successful projects that are similar, despite reference to the links of Albany gateway and My Southwest.  Both cities Joondalup and Wanneroo are prepared to invest equivalent sums of money to complement the funding, however while the Wanneroo local government is pushing for the project Joondalup local government personnel are not enthusiastic and seem ambivalent in pushing for the project.
