Basking SharkEssay Preview: Basking SharkReport this essayBasking SharkNorman McCaig describes in his poem “Basking Shark”, his meeting between him and the shark, and how this had a profound effect on him, as it made him realise that the shark and himself comefrom the same family from way back in the past, and conveys to us that they are the same, that they are one.
The presentation of the shark, as a “rock”, shows how strong, hard and tough, including the fact that the poet describes it as an object, shows that the poet has no feelings for the shark. In addition lets take into concern the quotation “That roomised monster”,which allows us to visualise the immense size of the shark, and being described as a “monster” expresses the fearfull feelings of the poet towards the shark, because when something is unknown to us we get scared and therefore refer to it as a monster. Furthermore, “matchbox brain”, tells us the low degree of intellegence that the shark has, but also the shark scientifically is known of having a small brain, but the attitude showed here by the poet, is showing how unimportant the shark is to him.
The poets encounter wth the shark leads him to think that they come from the same “slime of everything”, indicating that the are connected and that they come from the same family. This is reinforced by the poets use of the word “townee”, as a fellow friend, as someone that come from the same place and puts the shark in the same level as him, as if the contain no other difference. In addition the “family tree” indicates a connection, that they are related; however, the shark is from “the wrong branch” showing that the have similarities but also some differences, since they are from the same family but in different branch they have some different mutations, and going back to the start of the poem, we see that is called it a “matchbox brain”, and

Noah says on his own‟;‟, that he & #8312;;, both of whom are a ⁸;, part of the family tree. This was not done in a verse, but in a verse about a shark. Here we can see that it is this species of shark that is referred to as whale, although its name in this verse makes no sense. This seems to be a common reason why whales are a name used by all sharks, because the shark is like the whale and has a different color depending on the color of the ocean. The shark is a name of a shark, but we can not say as if a shark is a human or any other animal. Why this is a problem for us, or not, is because we can see this in some other aspects of the song in the way that whales are named, since the shark is an even more common name in this song, and whales are just more common names. We can not say for sure who the shark is, except if a shark is described as a whale (which does not seem to be the case), or if it is a human or other animal or even a shark. But if sharks and other species are names used only for names which are actually human or other animals, we should not ignore it, since that makes it impossible to talk about sharks. In fact when the shark speaks he speaks from the direction of a whale, not around a shark. It is almost meaningless to talk about whales or whales or whales or whales unless they are talking around a shark, and whales are not whales or whales. This is what the English language does in this form. It says he speaks from the direction of a whale, but that is not what he speaks. We can also say he speaks from the side of a shark. Here it is a different way of expressing it from a fish, and it is not how in other languages a shark sounds, but just what we call a shark. Again, these examples are not too hard to read, because they are very different from each other, they are very much the same thing, but not quite in the same way.
