As an accreditation manager all supervisors should provide a regular and documented supervision report on the officers under his charge to make sure they all following ethical codes and protocols.Some facilities practice independent monitoring periodically to ensure that all personnel are adhering to the ethical codes and protocols. One of the best ethical practices that some facilities are implementing is having a disciplinary action in case rules are not being followed, first start with counseling of the individual, then letters of reprimand, demotion, transfer to another facility and last termination of employment, this should give a platform for these officers to adhere to the ethical codes of correction. But in order for this disciplinary actions to work they have to be consistent with agency policies.

The department believes that every officer in the National Guard is a trusted, responsible officer in all situations and I can confirm that this is an integral part of every department’s performance. I support the department’s efforts on training and on implementation of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Any officer can have a career in the military and I strongly believe that those who perform most effectively in those roles should be respected throughout their lives. I have witnessed officers who have gone through this transition and have achieved the same, as I have witnessed those who have not.
