A 2012 Presidential Candidate
A 2012 Presidential Candidate
Mitt Romney is not a newcomer to the national political stage. Romney founded the investment firm Bain Capital in 1994. This accomplishment inspired him to run for the Massachusetts Senate in the same year, but he was defeated by incumbent Ted Kennedy because he was 48 in job creation for governor of the United States. Romney became governor of Massachusetts in 2003, and then ran for the republican nomination in the 2008 election. He finished second in both the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary to candidate John McClain. In June 2011, Romney announced his bid for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. By May 2012, he had become the Republican Party presumptive nominee. In August 2012, Romney announced U.S. Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin as his running mate. Later that month, Romney was officially named the Republican Party’s presidential nominee. All these events show how much experience Romney has in being a leader. This leading mentality was instilled within Romney at a young age.
