Education is to the soul what sunlight is to a flower. We cannot grow into our full and beautiful potential without it. The purpose of education is to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed and reasonable decisions. Education should also culture the human mind so that it excels at accomplishing all of its life goals. A well-rounded education, including knowledge of the self as well as knowledge of the world, should enable a person to use the full capacity of his body, mind, and spirit. It should develop in humans the capability to make the best use of their personality and skills so that they can achieve objectives for themselves and for others, opening up numerous doors of opportunity not only for the individual, but also for their friends and family by association.
Education should give depth to a curriculum and allow students to become responsible adults, mature in their morals, solid in their values and well able to cope with all the social and ethical dilemmas they will encounter. It should bring students to a proper understanding of the full scope of life. Education must give a student a deeper sense of existence and a larger perspective of the world. It should provide an idea of the vast amounts of knowledge waiting to be discovered, as well as a hunger to learn it. Education should strengthen the mind by culturing it from inside.
Gaining knowledge is very important in my own personal quest. No matter how much I learn, I know that there are infinitely more fascinating aspects of the world I have yet to discover. I feel that if I become a well-educated person, that I will be able to better my life chances. A college degree and the skills I will learn over the coming three years will give me a better chance of finding a job. It will prepare me for a professional career, and make me into a well-rounded person. Education is also important to me because through education I can learn important life skills. Education
