What Is Critical Thinking
What is critical thinking?
Critical Thinking to me is having the ability to apply reasoning and logic to new or unfamiliar ideas, opinions, and situations. Thinking critically involves seeing things in an open-minded way and examining an idea or concept from as many angles as possible. This important skill allows people to look past their own views of the world and to better understand the opinions of others. Having an open mind to others perspectives, gives you the ability to think critically as it creates new possibilities with problem solving. Being open minded to me has a great amount of being a good critical thinker, but to also accept an answer that is different from what was originally expected. Open-minded thinking requires that a person does not assume that his or her way of approaching a situation is always best, or even right.
What are the three most significant things that you learned about critical thinking during this class?
One of the most significant things that I have learned during these past nine weeks was to never make any assumptions that you view of any answer is right. Another great thing that I learned was that not everybody shares the same thoughts or views on any given subject. The last thing that was really significant thing to me was to not make any assumptions about anything without ever giving it a try.
How has your critical thinking changed since starting this course?
When I started this course I did not know what critical think or what kind of thinker I was, but after figuring out that I was a challenged think I knew what to improve on to make me a better thinker. Now I have to say I’m a practicing thinker I still have a long way to go before I become a master thinker, but since I have taken what I have learn for this course and use it in my everyday life has made me open minded and a better person.
