ExplanationMy intangible interests are the most important and are based on having a car that represents my success. My tangible interests are based on my need to maintain my salary/commission. It is also important that the car is family-friendly. All my goals are connected to my interest of saving money, and they cover what I need right now in order to support my family, keep my job and success. Getting a car soon is my first priority. Without a car I might lose income or have to pay for an expensive rental.By achieving my objectives I would satisfy my interests. Purchasing the Subaru at my resistance price would give me a reliable car, which would maintain my reputation in the community. This is my BATNA because I need the car within two weeks, and the Jeep is available immediately. The car has a good price, however it doesn’t have all the necessary characteristics. Based on this, my BATNA is middling. It is useful to a certain point; however, the rapid depreciation makes it weaker.I don’t need a long-lasting relationship with this seller so I’ve chosen a competitive strategy. I will lose money if I try to satisfy his needs. My tactic is to hide emotions by behaving nonchalant. Regarding the exchange time I will use the bogey tactic.Bargaining mix: The price and time of exchange will be the most important issues. The exhaust system and the dent are issues that I will negotiate, but I’m prepared to accept these faults if the price and exchange time satisfy me.Regarding my planning points, I chose an ambitious opening price and based it on my BATNA. I’d be willing to pay more for the Subaru than the Jeep. My target price is realistic and fair, but still ambitious. It is a price I could get if I use the right tactics. My resistance point is based on the condition report from the Subaru-dealer where they appreciate the Subaru to $24 900. My resistance point is higher than the price of my BATNA, but I consider the values I get from the Subaru to compensate for the higher price.
