Vision of the Future
Purpose, preparation, and pioneering-three tenets that I believe should be at the heart of every endeavor in life. Today, I am face-to-face with the journey toward my aspirations of earning my Masters Degree in Business Administration.
When I moved out of my parents home I had a purpose. My purpose was to complete my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. I learned about various aspects of business, a line of study that coincides well with my dream of one day owning my own business. From that day forward I had to decide what my mission in life would be. In The Path: Creating Your Mission Statement for Work and for Life, the author suggests that “A personal mission statement acts as both a harness and a sword-harnessing you to what is true about your life, and cutting away all that is false” (p.5).
Now I seek to prepare myself for my journey toward becoming an Entrepreneur where I intend on taking up a Masters in Business Administration from Ashford University. I believe that Ashford University has great educational values and a diverse student body, truly an educational institution where I can learn a lot from both faculty and student interactions whether it be on campus or thru the online program. I also believe that I can make quite a significant contribution in classroom discussions, case studies, and debates through my unique perspective because of my background, upbringing, education, interests, and experiences.
I am not only an African American woman with a bachelors degree in Business, but I am also going to be the first generation in my family to complete my Masters in Business Administration. I am married to an African American man whose profession is in the Social Services field. We both enjoy closely following the political and economic changes caused by the phenomenal current event taking place in the United States.
When I first thought of pursuing my MBA I was rather apprehensive, because I was unsure what college would accept me without having a GPA of 2.5. After extensive research and careful consideration, however, I truly feel that Ashford University can give me the best MBA schooling and the best preparation to attain my goals in life. According to Jones, (2010), “Forgetting your mission can lead to getting tangled up in details – details that can take you off your path.” Thus I strive to stay on the right path and reach my goals within my personal goal of five years.
Within the next five years, I have managed to envision myself being the owner of a business or possible working as the managing director at large organization within the United States, preferably California. After gaining extensive experience with such companies and organizations in my past employment history, I am confident that I will be able to one day soon achieve this goal.
Beyond my career aspirations,
