Mrs. Higginss drawing room. She is at her writing-table as before. The parlor-maid comes in.THE PARLOR MAID [at the door]: Mr. Henry, madam, is downstairsMRS. HIGGINS: Well, show him up.THE PARLOR-MAID: Hes using the telephone, madam, phoning the police, I thinkMRS.HIGGINS: What!THE PARLOR-MAID [coming further in and lowering her voice]: Mr. Henry is in a state, madam. I thought Id better tell you.MRS. HIGGINS: If you had told me that Mr. Henry was not in a state it would have been more surprising. Tell them to come up when hes finished with the police,. I suppose hes lost something.
THE PARLOR-MAID: yes, madam [going]MRS. HIGGINS: Go upstairs and tell Miss Doolittle that Mr. Henry is here. Please tell her that she mustnt come down until I call for her.THE PARLOR-MAID: Yes, madamHiggins bursts in. he is, as the parlor-maid has said in a state.HIGGINS: Look here, mother; a terrible thing has happened.MRS. She over heard the conversation between the Colonel and I and how I gloated on how I changed Eliza.
MRS. HIGGINS: In that case Henry she had every right to leave.HIGGINS: But mother, Ive never felt this way before. Ive sent the police looking for her.MRS. HIGGINS: Now, what are the police going to do?HIGGINS: What theyre paid to do, their job.MRS. HIGGINS: Henry, she left because she wanted to. [Calls for the parlor-maid and signals her get ElizaHIGGINS [Without notice he rambles on]: I left my pride behind to tell her how I felt about her and how I have grown to love her.Eliza steps into the drawing- roomHIGGINS: Eliza!!Higgins was amazed by her presence and reached out to embrace her. However, Eliza backs away and reaches out hand for a pleasant handshake.ELIZA: How do you do Mr. HigginsHIGGINS [with the look of confusion on his face]: Fine thank you, Eliza we need to…ELIZA: I have nothing to say to you Mr. Higgins. HIGGINS: Thats not true. I love you Eliza.ELIZA: Oh stop it with your bitter twisted lies. Youre just saying that to make me stay to be your assistant, not your companion.HIGGINS: How would you know if you havent given it a chance?Mrs. Higgins get up from her chair and heads for the door.MRS. HIGGINS [walking towards the door]: I think you two, need to be alone to talk this out. And a message for you to take a long time to accept. You need to be sure you know, right? You need to start thinking about me before you start saying “what are you talking about” and then get me off my ass and let me know you get over it, all right?ELIZA: What is it, I had so many issues with the system…but you had the courage to move on! Now you are going to see what the shit goes to when you leave her. You should never leave her.HIGGINS [to Mrs. Higgins] You’re not giving her any of this. Don’t pretend, I have no intention on staying with you while you’re here. You can talk to her and figure out your problems. ELIZA: Do you mind? I might try a little harder but i’m only doing this to fix an issue i have that i just don’t wanna get worse. [after talking for about 50 seconds ELIZA begins screaming and kicking]HIGGINS [holding Eliza’s hand out] You know what the fuck? I need you to leave me alone. ELIZA: Yes, I do. [pulls down her dress] Oh fucking God.I need you to leave my room and I know I need someone to fix the issues of the system. [while Mr. Higgins and Mrs. Higgins sit at the kitchen table, Eliza cries in hysterics]I want you at your service all over this thing. You want me to stay with you, I want you to help me deal with the whole system.I want YOU to go out into the world, and I don’t want you to lose your job. We HAVE been together for 6 years. We have married for about 2 years. All around us we have children and have had no relationship that we have come up with before. We spend most of our time with friends AND our families. When we aren’t having problems and we are having fun with our children and family,we get to know each other and work towards our dreams. That the only problem is we don’t have the right relationship. And yes, i understand. It’s just that we have to trust each other over someone else. We’ve been with each other for 2 years; every day. But right now it’s only 6 years. We’ve had no relationship and all our lives. Oh wait you are kidding me, we don’t have an entire relationship until we have been married for 6 years already. No one. We are married 2. And that means we can only leave each other every 2 years
