Enterprise is a car rental company that has 68,000 employees and 7,000 locations in the U.S., Canada, Germany, United Kingdom, and Ireland. Enterprise uses Windows server 98 to connect the store locations as well as many agents that work remotely. Enterprise uses windows server 98 to allow costumer service, reservations, and training from home to connect to different locations all over the world. The network management team makes sure that employee connection and the VoIP are in sync and secure as it does have a key generator that changes every few seconds for a secure connection. (ERAC, 2014)Week 2: Diagramming the NetworkThe star network architecture is used because all connections lead back to the central hub, In his organization there is a Corporate Office, 6,000 Branch locations and 100 plus remote employees. The information travels thousands of miles as there are locations overseas and it travels at over 100mbps. The remote locations are work from home locations. These connections can be made through programs such as NatRes 2.0, Odyssey, DRS, ARMS, Also these remote locations use VoIP for phone calls from customers and to communicate with the other departments and branch locations. When you sign in on these programs you have a user name and key code you must input. The key code is generated by a key fob that changes every few seconds that syncs over the network to keep the customers and company’s information secure. Every Branch office has a switch and a route so that the computers in each branch can be on the same network which can access information from the corporate office server. A lot of your tech support and customer service are done from people that work from home there is a main I.T. department at the corporate office but mainly only deal with server issues. The server is a windows 98 server it needs to be upgrade to a new server to handle more information but with this they would have to implement new programs to access the same information all other remote and branch connections seem to be good for access to the customer information on reservations, customer service, MVP, and escalations so whenever they do upgrade they will have to implement all new programs with all this information for the new servers.
