The first covenant that I will discuss is the covenant that God made with Noah. The covenant that God made with Noah was “the first explicit act of covenant in the Hebrew Bible”. (www.hope.edu) This covenant is often called God’s covenant with creation. The sign of this covenant is the rainbow. This is because a rainbow arches over all of creation. In this covenant God said, “As for me, I am establishing my covenant with you and your descendants after you, and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the domestic animals, and every animal of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark. I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth”. (Harper Collins) God also told Noah, “ Be fruitful and increase and fill the earth”. (www.hope.edu) This covenant is made with all of creation. This is shown when God said, “ I will establish my covenant with you and with your seed after you”. (www.prca.org) This is what makes this covenant so unique. It was as if God was making this covenant with me and you and we weren’t even here yet. This covenant is also spoke of in Jeremiah, Chapter 33.
