Termination of Pregnancy
Termination of Pregnancy
An abortion is the medical process of ending a pregnancy so it does not result in the birth of a baby. It is also sometimes known as a termination or a termination of pregnancy. Depending on how many weeks you have been pregnant, the pregnancy is ended either by taking medication or by having a surgical procedure. An abortion is not the same as a miscarriage, where the pregnancy ends without medical intervention (although medical treatment may be needed after a miscarriage). There are two types of abortion: spontaneous abortion and induced abortion; – Spontaneous abortion is a natural process resulting in the loss of a pregnancy. This is more commonly known as miscarriage. Induced abortion is a medical or surgical procedure that is undertaken with the intention of ending a pregnancy. Induced abortion is also known as termination of pregnancy. When abortions are performed it is a matter of when life begin and whether you are pro life or pro choice. This paper is for the theory of deontology. act morally is to act from motives that everyone, everywhere could live by (universality). Kants theory is part of the Deontological ethics – “duty” or “obligation” based ethics – that focuses on the rightness or wrongness of intentions or motives behind action such as respect for rights, duties, or principles, as opposed to the rightness or wrongness of the consequences of those actions. My argument is based on ideas that are rooted in both utilitarian and deontological ethics as I will show throughout the paper as to when life begins.
When do life begin do life begin the reasons seems obvious. Most men and women are agreed that human life posses a sanctity that renders life inviolable. Except for the gravest reason and sometimes not even then-we do not physical abuse or kill human’s beings. Thus the question whether abortion is moral permissible, or whether fetal life can be sacrificed for any of a variety of reasons, has appeared to turn on the question whether a fetus is a human being or whether human life begins at the fetal stage. Do we determine what an abortion is by determining whether a fetus is a human being?
We can determined what an abortion is by determined that life begins at conceptions and that a fetus is indeed a human being. (Green, 1974). The choice to give life rather death is for me that is wrong to kill a living being. Especially when human intervention is the cause. The most controversial point aspect of abortion is the question of when does life begin.
Deontologist for Pro life advocates believes life at conception. Therefore an abortion at any stage is murder and should be prevented. Recants developments of medical technology such as sound imaging and ceroscopy has permitted us to look in to the womb and observe fetal development almost from the point of perception. In term of what we knew before, the difference is like observing a person’s reflection in a pond compared to observing his/her reflection in a mirror. Modern fetology has given us an incredible look a tiny individual in his/her mother’s womb (Alcorn, J. 1992).
My argument is against utilitarian for Pro choice advocates who believes that life begins at birth or somewhere earlier along the nine months continuum that is a normal pregnancy. They do not believe that life begins at conception.
