MG6302-11-14Case 2 Bullying BossesQuestion 1 How does workplace bullying violate the rules of organizational justice?        Organizational justice draws a big picture which consists of 3 main organizational justices such as Distributive Justice, Procedural Justice and Interactional Justice. Distributive Justice is most strongly related to organization commitment and satisfaction with outcomes. People want to feel how much they get paid are relative to what they think they should be paid. Procedural Justice is the perceived fairness of the process used to determine the distribution of rewards. It relates most strongly to job satisfaction, employee trust, withdrawal from the organization, job performance and citizenship behaviors. Interaction Justice perceived degree to which and individual is treated with dignity, concern, and respect. There is less evidence about interaction Justice compared with two types of justice that mention before.         These theories about justices are made to assist the workplace, so it can be an effective and satisfying place to work and everyone is treated the same. Equity or fairness is the outcome of organization justice that employee want to see and feel about it, but in many cases the rules was violated by workplace bullying. All employees including supervisors and upper management might be involved in bullying behavior either intentional or unintentional. Workplace bullying can violate the company rules through verbal bullying, gesture bullying, physical bullying, exclusion etc.

In this Case, ( Stephen P. Robbins, Organizational behavior “Case incident 2 Bullying Bosses” page 231) Kara was bullied by her boss. In the beginning, her boss had added her as friend on her Facebook even she didn’t feel want to accept his request, but it was her boss, so she accepted it. Then her boss started using her information and tried to something inappropriate, and that cause her feel uncomfortable and bullied. It seems like her boss try to do something offensive, abusive, intimidating or insulting behaviors, abuse of power or unfair penal sanctions which makes the recipient feel upset, threatened, humiliated or vulnerable, which undermines their self-confidence and which may cause them to suffer stress.Workplace bullying can be violated and it can lead to many problems in organizations. Based upon theories we can say that workplace bullying could be violated by avoiding interactional justice in organizations.Question2 What aspects of motivation might workplace bullying reduce? For example, are there likely to be effects on an employee’s self-efficacy? If so, what might those effects be? Do you think bullying would motivate you to retaliate?        Workplace bullying absolutely would reduce the motivation to work as a team or individually. Bullied victims would lower the quality and quantity of work, downsize the self-motivation and feel miserable even in their personal life. Bullying can result with emotionally and physical pain, lot of confusion, etc. There are many aspects of motivation that can be reduced bullying in the workplace; for instance, helping others, speaking positively about the organization, and going beyond the call of duty.
