PROJECT TITLE: THE DEPLOYMENT OF A MOBILE BASE TRANSCEIVER STATION TO ABEOKUTA DURING LISABI FESTIVAL.
PROJECT LOCATION: AKE PALACE, ABEOKUTA.
PROJECT OBJECTIVE: TO OPTIMIZE THE AVAILABLE RESOURCES (BOTH DATA AND VOICE) AND TO REDUCE CONGESTION ON THE EXISTING NETWORK SIGNALS.

INTRODUCTION
I have been working in Globacom Limited for over eight years, and my current designation is Field Service Manager in charge of operations and maintenance of all base stations with the base stations controller and all technical related issues in Abeokuta. The scope of my work also entails the maintenance of business solutions in terms of E1 sold to some corporate organizations like banks, campuses to mention but few in order to access their data faster and more efficient.
The team composes of the Field service Engineer, the BSS/Tx Engineer and the Power Technician. We have over seventy base stations and three base station controllers under our cluster.
My job requires maximum application of tact and excellent relationship ability with the sales department so as to increase the revenue generated for the company. We also work with those in implementation unit, when new base stations are to be rolled out and integrated into the network.
PROJECT ASSESSMENT
The deployment of the Mobile Base Transceiver Station to Ake Palace during the Lisabi Festival that was held for 8 days was to optimize the network around that area so that the network will not be congested because of the mass influx of people from all works of life during the festival.
Globacom Limited as part of the social responsibility in upholding cultural heritage sponsored this Lisabi Festival. We first carried out an optimization tests so as to check the existing network coverage both in terms of data and voice, the strength of the signals, the shooting of the sites around Ake palace in Abeokuta.
We observed the following;
We have two base stations under the said coverage area but the one of the base station sectored antennae is at the wrong azimuth and even the other base station is over shooting.
Also some sectors of the GSM on those base stations are congested which required an upgrade.
We also need to deploy the mobile base transceiver station to reduce congestion that will be associated with the influx of people during the festival.
