Political Spectrum
My overall position on the political spectrum can be taken a few ways. While I am not a radical or a reactionary, I do have opposing issues on many topics. For example, my opinions on abortion, gay marriage, and gay marriage are opposite of each other. This is why I believe that I am moderate-liberal. Although I have opposing views on certain topics, I still believe the government should have some type of part in government and business and I believe that people should be free to make their own choices with their body and lives.
On the subject of abortion, I am pro-choice. I believe that a woman should be able to do what she wants with her body. Other people have no idea the circumstances that led to the woman’s pregnancy, or the situations she may be in at the time of conception. If a woman is raped, should she be expected to keep the baby of her rapist? Of if a 16 year old girl makes a mistake, should she be forced to try and support a baby when she can’t even support herself? That would ruin not only the lives of the mothers, but also the lives of the innocent children being brought into this world. I believe my opinion on this topic makes me liberal.
On the issue of social programs such as welfare and Medicaid, I believe that the government should do more to regulate who receives these finances. I believe that the government should only give out a certain amount of money for a certain period of time. With certain exceptions such as the disable and the elderly, I do not believe it is necessary to give out “handouts” to people who are perfectly capable of working and supporting themselves. That is a waste of tax dollars coming from the pockets of American citizens who are working to support themselves. I believe my view on this makes me moderate-conservative.
On the topic of gay marriage, I believe that the government and the country itself should have much more tolerance towards people’s choice of sexuality. I believe that gay
