Cypress Semiconductor Corporation Memo
Cypress Semiconductor CorporationMemo to Mr. RogersHello Mr. Rogers, as vice president of investor relations I would like to express some concerns on behalf of myself and shareholders at Cypress Semiconductor Inc. With a friendly and sound personal relationship with you, I would like to advise you as to an appeal of thought to your reply to the public interest group, about Mrs. Doris. I would like to apologize to you for receiving the letter personally. This concern should have been handled by middle management and a person delegated at dealing with such interest groups. I am aware that you made your bones as being a bad boy in the industry. However, it has stirred some concerns with the board of directors. Honestly, we just don’t want to respond to Catholic Nuns as being on a high horse; we would prefer your gruff management style to be focused inside the corporation and not outside. We just don’t believe that people outside the organization will view this situation in the same light that we do. People like those who like them. We understand your personality and style, but others don’t. Therefore, it is deemed inappropriate from an advisory point of view Think of reciprocity- you give what you want to receive. I understand that you may have been challenging her reasoning. However, it was not in a way she was readily acceptable to listen to.When dealing with external parties, we advise:WarmFriendly InterestingOrganizedOpen mindsConfidentInspiringAuthentic behaviorThis is because when people feel threatened, intimidated, lost and confused, they stop listening. They become frustrated, or they may withdraw entirely. We want to allay the fears and meet their needs. We want to be positive and be one of them. Moreover, we want to share personal experiences, backgrounds, goals, and concerns. Thus, humanizing and personalizing. By eliminating the feelings of stereotypes, prejudice, attitudes, language, and culture we could educate her on the appropriate procedures of how to best handle this situation. When dealing with outside organizations, it is important to understand the reason for writing and how to express yourself effectively. We want to neutralize contrary opinions and create new attitudes. Remember that we want to resolve concerns and be persuasive at the same time. We do not want to make generalizations about her belief systems. What we believe defines, in so many meaningful ways, who we are. Win their hearts and minds and the behavior will follow.Letter to Mrs. Doris.Hello Sister Doris, First and foremost, as the public relations advisor at Cypress Semiconductor, we would like to thank you for being so compassionate to the structure of our organization. I want to apologize for the response. Personally, you received from C.E.O. I spoke to Mr. Rogers personally, and he admitted that his tone and language was completely inappropriate. Furthermore Public concerns are critical to Cypress Semiconductor, and correspondence from public interest groups allows us to see things clearly that we may have otherwise overlooked; as a for profit organization.
