Did you know that Kenya was considered one of the most stable countries in Africa until the end of 2007? Through excessive research I have discovered an abundance of interesting information on the Beautiful African country of Kenya. Which include their Political Structure, Economic growth, Major obstacles, the status of women, educational devolpment, their horrific aids cases, and their current and future infrastructure devolpment.

Kenya became an independent republic in 1963. Until December of 2007 Kenya had one of the most stable countries in Africa, it functioned as East Africa’s financial and communicational hub, the head quarters of many international nongovernmental organizations, and a magnet for tourism. The election in December has caused major violence as The Kisils and Kalenjins fight between tribes causing the Kikuyus (majority of the people who dominate Kenya’s politics and businesses) to flee their homes , split lines, and descend into prolonged unstable conditions. More than 1,000 people have been killed since the elections. Kenya holds a Democratic government even though the president holds powers of which were determined in the colonial period. The president, Mwai Kibaki, appoints provincial and district commissioners, who oversee municipal services such as education, health, and transportation. In Kenya the members of parliament are elected by the general population, although it is found unfortunate by the people that parliament has little power to address public grievances. The President is also the Head of government, the executive power is run by the government, the Legislative power is run by the government and national assembly, and the Judiciary is independent of the Executive and Legislative powers.

After Kenya became independent they promoted a rapid economic growth through public investments, and much agricultural production, and incentives for private investment. Their annual growth rate is 6.1%
