DJC is able to operate at a high utilization at their Kawasaki plant by decreasing startup and shutdown costs operating 24 hours a day, seven days per week. They have also standardized their production line by eliminating variability, having longer production runs, and streamlining their facilities. Additionally, DJC is able to delivery customer orders daily. ACC’s flexible
to the demand factors the company expects to see for the next 3 years. The company developed a flexible production pipeline that allows them to respond to customers’ needs and supply requirements at a faster pace. They also maintain a “flexible inventory plan” that reflects product demand and sales, and maintain inventory within a competitive price range for their current products. This approach will allow the company to focus on their product designs rather than market trends.
