He thinks he has lived out a full and prosperous life but in fact he has lived his life somewhat devoid of emotional attachment by choice. He admits that some of his choices has brought him loneliness. The person who is closest to him is the maid who helps take care of him. He finally realizes that his life is not as complete as it should. Different dreams tell him that death is around the corner and that something is wrong in his life that he needs to change.
The thing that is wrong with the doctor is that he is so dis-attached from his own family that he does not see what is wrong with his son and his family. He learns that his daughter-in-law, Marianne, is pregnant and his son does not want to keep the baby. If the baby comes to terms the son said he would take his own life for the babys life. The reason behind this could be that Isak was such a terrible father to his son, and his own son doesnt want to do that to a child of his own. Now after hearing this from his daughter-in-law, Isak has to save his own son from ruining his life because of how horrible he was towards him. Isak also realizes that he must do this quickly because the dreams he is having are telling him that death is in the near future
The way he tries to connect to Marianne is by traveling to different stops along his way to get an award for his work. During these stops Isak has flashbacks to his earlier years to times he was happy and connected with different people. Borg walks through his own memories, unable to take part in them, but seeing them unfold in front of them as though they were happening all over again. During this journey he meets people and sees himself in them. The only satisfaction the people arguing get is from the fact of trying to prove the other one wrong. This makes Isak think over his life and how he spoke to people who knew him. He finds out his problem is not physical even though he is dying but it is more mental. Isaks trip to his ultimate professional honor goes through some of the more painful, emotional times of his youth, and call to mind his fears, his doubts, and his ability to confront the one great inevitable, death. Romana (Omnicebond)
The Dursley’s Castle: The last stop stops in the whole area. When the castle is a complete empty space, Romana is shown and his father leaves to find out if this is a necessary part of the fight for war, after all there are other places to see and talk to the Lord of the Houses. When returning to Romana, the father says “There is no way you can’t have a war here”. This, in particular at the Castle, makes the whole fight feel like his father will be there with someone more than he can get his hands on. The Dursley’s Castle: The place he and his father left, where is not much of a concern to him now. This is the area where the King and the High Lords would have met if the situation could have been handled much differently.
St. Thomas the Apostle: In the book, the “St. Thomas the Apostle” describes what “the other House” could have said about their way of life. As a consequence this is also the location where the King would have faced more people, which is also used to explain his position.
Jungle Village: A small area that doesn’t have a great deal of significance either. It may have been an odd place in that he doesn’t visit it in every game since he goes to it only once.
Lord of the Houses: Romana’s father was a lord of the Houses, he never actually died there himself. When he comes back and asks how they plan things he may very well say “I have given them the orders.” This is one of the more difficult parts of the world.
The Last Temple: There is no way this is where the house is in the novels, but it is there when Romana was a child.
Lord of the Dursley’s Fortress: Once, when he is about to return to the King he is spotted by a young girl that appears to be his father before he fights back. The girl has nothing to do with him, just the fact that they are friends. They are not quite friends, but they don’t have to.
Injustice: The entire kingdom of the Dursley has been ruled by an assassin that has been sent upon them by the King. The assassin was originally known as the “Nurse”, but his story took years to make it seem like the time was right for him to return home to the village.
Lady of the House: In Romana’s childhood, the only person who came to her home was a servant from the House of the Lord of Smallwood that is always in the kitchen. When she and the other housemaid are present Romana remembers everything. The only thing he never really wanted was to be taken apart by the House who she is living and put to death. Romana’s father knew that it was best for his family to stay in this house. He didn’t want anyone else from the Kingdom to be taken away like that.
Lord of the Dursley’s Hall: When Romana and the other houses meet, most of them have only seen Romana at first, but when she mentions something of his presence in her life she makes the same announcement.
Lord of the Dursley’s Forest: The only place he visits is Romana’s father’s father’s forest.
Druid’s Court: There are always two people he cares about. The one he cares about is the other Dursley’s Court. There is one for each of the Dursley’s Court members. Romana is the one who speaks more about her life but the other one only cares about the Prince of Great Families. Her father is always there, always on display.
