Chapter 1. IntroductionBackgroundThis is part of a subcommittee task that we have been given to create and implement a product to sell under the Spira Company. Spira operates in the United States and is a company intended by runners for runners. The objective we are trying to do is expand from athletic and casual shoes to accessories that will enhance the customers running experience or workout. The Launch of Feet Beats will help to expand the Spira name.Statement of the ProblemPurpose of the Study        The purpose of this study is to examine the importance of the mission and how it defines and shapes the organization. I will look at mainly what is the company mission, how you go about formulating your mission and touch on social responsibility and business ethics. Research QuestionHow does the Mission Statement affect the organization as a whole?                         Organization of the StudyThis study is divided into five chapters. Chapter 1 will describe the problem and the significance of the study and chapter 2 will outline the literature review. Finally there is the conclusion to the study. Chapter 2. Literature ReviewPears & Robin state that the mission statement must be clearly defined to determine the basic goals and philosophies that will shape the product for the Spira organization. That is what we plan to do for Feet Beats. The purpose is to identify the scope of operations in the product to be able to market this product. We need to market this product to set it apart from others that are out there (Pearce & Robinson, 2004). The statement of Feet Beats is to encompass Spira’s overall company mission.     strategic  intent encompasses the firm’s strategic decision makers, the image they want to project, the firm’s self concept, the principle product or service areas, and customer needs the firm will strive to satisfy (Pearce & Robinson, 2004).
