Rapport: Hi (Smile). Thank you for being here today.Orientation (Ground Rules):I want to ask questions to get your thoughts and feelings about drugs and alcohol.I want you all to have this conversation with each other, more than with me. As such, I am going to ask questions along the way, but feel free to talk to each other, build off each other’s comments and I’ll jump in as necessary.Feel free to agree with each other. Feel free to disagree with each other. I am not looking for some kind of overall consensus on anything. Feel free to ask questions if my questions are confusing. My research team and I are going to take notes, but we are not going to attach names to anyone. Your input will be treated anonymously. This is one reason why we are not going to have name tags. Your name is not important, but what you have to say is. If you share any of this conversation with someone outside of this group today, then please do not use names, or in any way associate this conversation with anyone in this group, beyond this conversation.Focus Group: 20-25 min (2 rounds) Any questions before we get started?Focus Questions:1 3 In[a] your opinion what do you think the prevalence of drug use is on SOU’s campus?2 1 What do you consider to be a drug?4 In your experiences when did people around you-peers, friends, acquaintances-start drinking or doing drugs?8 How do you think substance use/abuse affects student performance in class? (Follow up: have you ever known someone to be severely affected by substance abuse/use). How do you think substance use/abuse frequency changes as people get older?What are your opinions on the United States drinking age?7 What drugs have you seen or know to be used by SOU students?What percentage of people you know do drugs-prescribed, not prescribed, alcohol, caffeine, tobacco etc..? (And maybe ask about frequency) Have you ever known someone to drink and drive? Can you elaborate on your experiences?
