Relationship Between Religion and Politics
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN RELIGION AND POLITICS
The connection between Politics and Religion has been a major issue for a long time now. Most people claim that political theories and context such as the United Nations have nothing to do with Religion. But what they don’t know is that is religion supports politics in a lot of ways. They are numerous ways that religion has intersected with politics and brought about positive actions. Like
The establishment and separation of church and state
They have helped in molding modern day theories and helped in focusing on the rights of humans. Dehumanization has reduced drastically in the modern because of this. Those with no religion may strongly argue that religion should not have any business with politics. Why? This is probably because they fear that this may cause them to forcefully follow their beliefs. A good number of religion around the world have basic commandments as their law. Like no one shall kill, steal, murder and so on. What this helps in the society is to help maintain order and peace.
It helps develop a sense of morality in the society. With religion by its side political analysis and theorist can develop a theory or a rule that will develop the society morally as well as politically. Critical situations will be considered before being passed to law or being preached against. Like abortion in most countries is illegal because it goes against their religion. It is considered killing. But in order countries they legalized abortion in case someone suffers from sexual assault. The person can easily get an abortion instead of living with psychological torture through out their lives. The child may grow up being mistreated by people around him. This is a big example of why should religion mix with politics? This type of situations don’t have an exact answer. It goes against nature but has a reasonable reason for doing so.
The truth is that religion can influence politics in numerous ways. Most of the times people only think of the social issues relating to religion and politics. For example gay marriage, contraceptive and abortion. Religion can influence the party someone joins. Most atheist believe that people who are into politics uncommonly change religion in order for it to fit their political theory. A research has been carried and t has been notice that most antagonist still have religious experience which affect their lifestyle. This proves that everyone has a religion to run in times of difficulty. Religion can be used as aspiration in developing an ideal society which is free from corruption. Religion leads to more political involvement. Sometimes religion has to sustain politics. In lots of places that have a dominant religion. Politics there is very fierce as a lot of laws will be brought up and addressed. Some of those problems need the help of religion to understand it. Although in the past they have been cases of people or countries different religion which means they have different political ideology. Countries like Iraq and Israel practice different religion. This will affect their laws and the way of life in the society. This usually causes chaos among countries. Wars breakout and other negative factors. This in my personal view is appalling. Since each religion preaches to respect other religions, I think the main cause is the conflict has to be based on personal issues with one country just having something against the other. Religion and politics are then used an excuse to attack the other country. The problem when power is being moved from religion to private individuals has brought about dictatorship and someone limiting my right in the society. In autocracy power was being controlled by the church, kings, sultans and so on. Laws were not defied because they were assumed to be assigned by the supreme. Still the society was I order. People were afraid to commit crimes because they feared both physical and spiritual punishment. A lot of
