Keshia Pearl H.VelezBSED-ENG2B                                Reflection on Beyond the Blackboard MovieWhen we are assigned to do a heavy task, or to do something we think is very hard, we usually turn our backs to that responsibility. We usually make excuses to get ourselves out from that task. Why? Because we over think things. Because it is already fixed in our minds that whatever is hard to do is impossible, that whatever is heavy cannot be lightened up. We never try to make anything to make that impossible, possible, and to make that heavy task lighter. Most of us would have quit after one day or even half a day if we couldn’t bear with the heaviness of the task anymore. If truth be told, I was getting stressed out just watching the movie. Asking myself things like “Am I ready for the weighty responsibility of being a teacher?” Imagining and putting myself in her shoes made me think that there are things far more than the title a “teacher” could do, should do, and would do for her students. Being a teacher doesn’t end with teaching alone. Being a teacher is being a great person. Teachers are great people. And as stated in the saying; from great people comes greater responsibilities. The story made me realize and think of the things that I should be prepared of when I finally become an educator by profession. I should be prepared for teaching beyond the board. As what I’ve said, teaching doesn’t end with standing in front, talking and sharing my knowledge, discussing and giving exams, and computing grades of my students. Teaching beyond the board is teaching with all your heart, teaching while helping students, teaching and taking action. When I become a teacher, there are lots of sacrifices needed. I need lots of patience not just for my students but also for those people who will criticize and will scorn my way of teaching. I should be very open minded and be a very good role model, an inspiration. I should prepare myself to stand up and fight for my students when needed. Not minding their different attitudes and my duty, as a future teacher I should be capable of giving them the education they deserve.
