Marlow Manor Strategic Plan
Marlow Manor is an assisted living facility catering to seniors aged 55+. The center consists of 48 individual apartments that have 3 different sizes, which are configured to meet the needs of all types of individuals regardless of their physical incapabilitys. Marlow Manor is a for profit business located in Anchorage, Alaska, their mission is to provide assisted living with the feel of independent living, while maintaining the same capabilities as a nursing home facility (Marlow Manor, 2013).

Marlow Manor aims to provide senior citizens with help as they adjust to their new way of living. Part of their goal is to ensure that the resident feels that the facility is their home and not just another medical center. While the center does meet the medical and physical requirements for each resident, they also strive to meet their social, religious, personal and mental needs as well.

Marlow Manors staff consists of qualified personal such as Theresa A. Brisky, RN, BSN – Executive Administrator; Tina Henson, RN – Director of Resident Services; both are well known members of the medical profession industry. Other employees are the non-clinical staff that will conduct the daily tasks such as laundry, cooking, cleaning and providing the assistance for each resident on a needed basis. The center will provide a nutritionist that will assist residents with activities like meal planning, and even providing lessons about meal preparation. Marlow Manor is a for profit facility, so the residence are responsible for all cost and fees related to living at the center. However financial assistance is available through various government agencies such as Medicare.

Marlow Manors strategic business plan consists of a SWOT analysis to better prepare for any type of financial problems that may arise and to help increase the potential for profits by making sure the center is operating using all available resources (Zuckerman, 2012).

The current strengths for Marlow Manor include a well developed and researched plan, the appropriate target market is coveted for this particular area and the businesses within the community, the personnel including all employees and management, the facility is earning the needed amount of funds to ensure the day to day operations are not jeopardized. Another strength is the facility itself, the center is created to provide maximum comfort with the ability to meet all the medical needs of each resident. Other strengths are:

Better living accommodations than the competitors
Lower staff turnover ratio then most centers
Better use of technology to ensure the needs of the residents are meet at all time,
Which leads to happy consumers, which in turn can create the potential for growth for the business through word of mouth advertising.
Marlow Manor was founded on the idea that the center will establish a level of care to seniors that differentiates them from other facilities within the same industry by listening to the feedback of the residents and their families to improve the facility.

The market potential for Marlow Manor is substantially adequate. By reviewing the US Census regarding the population for individual whom are over the age of 55 located in Anchorage, Alaska, we can determine that as of 2012 there were 140,847 residents that were possible future clients for the center. Although to get a better estimate, we should take the number of residents and decrease it by at least 48% to account for the aging population that are well enough to care for themselves and then subtract another 25% for those who will have family to assist them as they reach the point of needing full time assisted care. That leaves an approximate number of 54,930 residents who will require the needs of an assisted living facility at some point over the next five years (US Census Bureau, 2012).
