Brief:
Commonly, NSP is also known as fibre. The full wording of NSP is “Non Starch Polysaccharides”. NSP is very useful to us since it prevents constipation and other related problems. We get fibre from group 1, group 2 and meat, fish and alternatives from group 4. We find many popular meals in the Maltese diet that provide us with NSP (fibre) such as pasta salad, pasta Bolognese, mashed or jacked potatoes with vegetables and various vegetable soups. One should eat foods mostly from group 1, group 2 and certain types of foods from group 4 to obtain enough fibre for a healthy diet.
