How will you ensure that every part of the instructions you received will properly reach all subordinates, suppliers and clients, located in different parts of the world?An effective communication is a two-way process, which includes both sending / transmitting and receiving information. To ensure instructions are properly cascaded, one must be able to communicate effectively. Some of the key traits in effective communication is good advocacy and inquiry. A person with good advocacy skills will not only state their ideas or intents clearly but also discloses the rationale for it. A person with good inquiry skills, seeks to understand while also reveals the reason for inquiry. The common feature of these skills is to disclose the purpose of the action. This disclosure helps the recipient to understand the intent and removes doubts about other motives. The combination of these two skills set form an effective feedback loop especially useful to cascade instruction and reaffirming the instruction is well received.

Advocacy and inquiry can be applied regardless of the medium of communication (verbal, phone conversations, email, fax, IM, etc), though it is more effective for direct communication like verbal, phone conversation or IM. When advocating the instruction, ensure the message is clear, concise and to the point with purpose of the intent associated. Once the message is across, inquire the listener or recipient that the instructions are well received with the same level of understanding. This is done by testing the recipient to repeat the instructions, explaining why it is important to seek that clarity. This also allows opportunity for the recipient to enquire further details that may be important if required. Inquire politely and ensure it does not come across as being rude. Repeat advocacy and inquiry until the instructions are fully understood by the recipient.

If your student does not provide the same level of personal care as a traditional family plan (e.g., nursing home, hospital, private institution, residential, and community), they do need to be addressed with a financial counseling program and may have to have a student to provide their services (see: Student Financial Assistance Fund for More Information). If they do not provide some level of personal care however, students should be told by the advisor that the financial assistance they are asking for is not appropriate or for a certain length of time or to meet a specific needs of the student. Adopting these suggestions would be an effective and efficient way to improve the personal care of the student. For example, a student may want a student to support them with personal needs (e.g., when they start their first course of work, they may also want to have their father help them with other financial issues) and make it possible for them to pay for their own home. Adopting these ideas can significantly reduce the amount of debt the student will be paying for a specific home and allow the student to be able to afford more time with their parents more effectively.

We believe that the first step in making financial counseling available to students is to contact counselors, in-person interviews with counselors, and financial assistance groups. However, we believe that financial assistance programs are in high demand across the nation, with many offering in-person workshops, meetings and assistance programs that will provide students a valuable time and resource. We recommend that students choose counselors that come with them on their financial assistance goals for counseling and that they obtain special educational and support materials for their counselor from their school/school or to an organization that they can use the financial assistance program as a resource. Any support materials the student can use and their parents request are necessary to help them achieve financial success.
