Part III: Genesis of Personal Styles
I would contribute a number of factors that have lead to the development of my personal style.
Culture: I was raised in a culturally diverse country where people belong to different religions and cultures and I believe that has contributed that to my Humanistic-Encouraging Style. Exposure to such vast variety of cultures has given me sensitivity to peoples beliefs and needs. As a result, I am able to demonstrate maturity and consideration when dealing with them.
Family Relationships: Since childhood my parents have inculcated a strong sense of respect for other people in me and that has resulted in my being very open to others and to their views. Also striving for perfection comes very naturally because I have always seen my father go above and beyond to make sure that the things are done right in first time.
Organization: The culture of the organization that I worked with in my previous job was very inflexible and “by the book” which lead me to do things in the conventional way rather than being innovative.
School: I was a part of the Literacy Mission started by my school, where we used to teach reading and writing to under privileged kids. It was eye opening experience for me; it gave me a sense of willingness to share my knowledge and skills with others and also a desire to be a positive influence in the community.
Part IV: Conclusion and Reflection
This exercise has given me a better insight into my own self being. LSI has given me an opportunity to have a better understanding of my thinking and my behavior. Based on the findings, I can recognize my strengths as well as the areas that I need to work upon for my personal and professional development.
