[pic 1][pic 2][pic 3]EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:With this Project we want to find out the factors that influence tourists. We have prepared a questionnaire to come to a conclusive evidence as to what the consumers consider to be the most important factors while choosing a travel package. We have done exploratory research to find out the different factors. Using these factors, we have come up with a questionnaire which would be used for the fieldwork. The initial questionnaire has been refined based on 7 rounds of pre-testing. Using the final questionnaire, we plan to collect responses from a wide range of people in various demographic segmentsBACKGROUND:All of us love to travel. The current generation of Indians is travelling more than ever, to places far and near. As per the Indian tourism statistics of 2015 the number of domestic tourist visits to all states/UT in India during 1999-2015 had increased from 190.67 million to 1431.97 million at an average growth rate of 11% every year. This goes to show that more and more people are willing to explore new places and meet new people. The mushrooming of travel agencies and online travel portals has played a major part in it.MARKETING RESEARCH PROBLEM:Determine the factors which play a major role in the increasing sale of tourism packages in India.RESEARCH OBJECTIVE:To investigate the factors that influence a consumer’s decision to buy a tour package and to examine whether there is a relation between a consumer’s demographic variables and travel choices.RESEARCH QUESTIONS:How does a consumer’s disposable income affect that person’s travel choices? How are travel decisions influenced by age?How does travel companions impact travel choices?Does a person’s profession play any role in travel decisions?APPROACH TO THE PROBLEM:HYPOTHESIS:Ho: There is no correlation between a consumer’s income and the price of the tour packages that he / she selects. Ha: There is a high correlation between a consumer’s income and the price of the tour packages that he / she selects. For this hypothesis the two parameters required are the income of the consumer and the price of tour package. These will be obtained through the questionnaire.Ho: There is no correlation between a consumer’s age and the kind of places where he / she wants to visit.Ha: There is a high correlation between a consumer’s age and the kind of places where he / she wants to visit. For this hypothesis the parameters required are the respondent’s age, and the kind of places that he / she would like to visit. Again these will be obtained through the questionnaire. RESEARCH DESIGN:Secondary Data:As per the Indian Tourism Statistics of 2015 the number of domestic tourist visits to all states/UT in India during 1999-2015 has increased from 190.67 million to 1431.97 million at an average growth of 11% every year.
