A limited number of players and coaches come from League to Union, and so what if it is for the money. That simply proves that Union is more successful product than League. The reason some League players are poached into Union is because essentially the two games are very different. Union is a game of multiple skills and requires good kicking, passing, tackling and above all intelligence and tactical knowledge. League is a game of run and tackle, run and tackle and hope that someone is there to receive. This is why a limited number of player from League are poached into Union because they are run and tackle specialists so they fit into certain positions in Union. That is why Union uses League coaches because they are specialist in one particular area.
League supporters argue that League is superior because there is more action but I myself find League extremely boring. It is the same thing over and over again, run and tackle, run and tackle with very little alteration to this pattern. League in its conversion (no pun intended) from Union loses many important aspects from the game of rugby such as the scrum, two sets of people hardly making any effort to get the ball is not a scrum! League players simply lean against each other while in Union it is a full battle that is decided on more than size and strength. Scrums are meant to be a contest of strength; in league its just a showpiece that doesnt really affect the game at all.
That is the beauty of Union, the tactical battle as well as the physical battle. League loses the tactical side of the game.
