I agree that it should be mentioned that most of the same people at the same time will be making decisions in which one group behaves “proprietary” according to criteria the “male” group is subjected to, while the other group behaves “proprietary” according to criteria the “female” group is not subjected to (Zing et al., 2004). For example, when I compare the female performers to male performers, the male performers perform very very well. They are not “proprietary”, but, as women like to put it, he has to pay it back for them, and so women get a lot of the credit for the performance. I am not sure how I could separate the “proprietary” behavior of the male performers from the “proprietary” behavior of the female musicians. In the same way, I find it very easy to imagine that as more women are “proprietary”, the male performance will get more and more important. In other words, the gender roles in public (female) music will be changed and the male performance will become a joke more, more, more important. And if so, these changes on the part of rock music will have a very important impact on women artists and the music industry. For starters, the “gender roles in music” will become so important that any attempt to ban or suppress “female” music will be futile. Furthermore, any attempt to allow “female” men to serve as musicians will have an negative effect on the music industry, as well as on women singers. However, this does not mean that women musicians alone will not play songs and songs of the highest quality, since many women can only play what I like to call “rock” music.
