When communicating information of any kind, it is important to know who the audience is and ensure that the message was effective. Dealing with a wide range of cultural people in an audience, the communicator will need to take into consideration how he or she will translate and how the audience will receive the information that being give. When discussing the protocol on the Chilean Copper Mining accident that occurred on Thursday August 5, 2010. It will be important that the Chilean Copper Mining incident is communicate to the families, employees, and the community to understand what happen in the incident and ways to avoid it. The communicator will look at the age range of the audience; he or she will also have to think of the education level of this audience.
First, the communicator will be talking to the families and friends of the miners from the accident. He or she will let the families know ways to help the miner cope with what they have just gone through in a mine for over two weeks. He or she will have to let the families know that they empathize with them and it is in their best interest to help them in anyway needed. The communicator has to understand the people will be upset and concern that their loved one was in danger. Knowing this the communicator has to listen as well as speak to the families to make sure the right message was give and received.
Second, the communicator will be talking to the miners and all other employees of the company. He or she will have to understand that the miners have been in a dilemma and are trying to find was to cope and understand what has happen to them. He or she needs to let the employees know that they will be finding ways to fix this problem so it will not happen again. Also, find ways to compensate them in their time of need. He or she needs to let the employees know that he or she knows this is not going to be an easy process and that the company is working as hard and diligent as possible to keep things running smooth.
Lastly the communicator most make sure he or she has the full attention of everyone he or she is speaking with to assure the message is being given. He or she has to make sure they are giving the right message to the right group of people or the message will be given wrong.
