Though this image might appear to be overly romanticized, it is not. In fact, for me this image is downright accurate! This spot is one of my favorite little places on earth. Some of the reasons for this are as follows:
• It’s the culmination of an hour-long journey in the paradise of beautiful emerald Bahamian waters. The ride is fun, but it’s made more so by the knowledge that it ends at this fantastic spot in the Exumas.
• This shack is the place where my wife Julie and I have (several times) had one of the most delicious meals we’ve ever sat down to! It’s a grouper stew that is chunky, hearty and seasoned to perfection. We’re not alone in this assessment. Several of our friends (Derrick and Kathy, Terrel and June, Rob and Liz, and Chris and Lori to name a few) who have dined with us there agree. Granted, I personally unlike my wife and friends, am far from having what it takes to be a food critic. But trust me, even the steak served with the stew pales in comparison to the culinary delight that the grouper dish is. Even if the recipe for this wonder meal, which is only a memory during the rest of the year, could be replicated at home, the scenery of wide blue skies and Atlantic dotted by tiny green cays could never be recreated in my Hoosier habitat.
