Most peoples lives depend on the very quick reaction of an E.M.T or paramedics. E.M.T. stands for emergency medical technicians. The E.M.T comes in three stages E.M.T. I, E.M.T. II, E.M.T. III. E.M.T. I is the lowest you can be. The E.M.T. I can do very little. Next is the E.M.T. II. They can do as much as you can do with out the chief approval. The E.M.T. III is the highest you can go before getting into the paramedic field. Really the only difference between them is as an E.M.T. III you can do more IVS and us different stuff.
Paramedics can do a little more than an E.M.T. can, but not much. Really the difference between them is you have to go to a college to get to the paramedic field, and to get into the E.M.T. field you need to take classes for a month and take a test and your done.
The ambulance is ran by one driver and the other two are working on the patient. For most places the ambulance has to have at lest three responders. They are required to do considerable kneeling, bending, and heavy lifting. The workers risk noise-induced hearing loss from sirens and back injuries from lifting patients. In addition, E.M.T.s and paramedics may be exposed to diseases such as Hepatitis-B and AIDS, as well as violence from drug overdose victims or mentally unstable patients. The work is not only physically strenuous, but also stressful, involving life-or-death situations and suffering patients. Nonetheless, many people find the work exciting and challenging and enjoy the opportunity to help others in the time of need.
