ABC is a global multinational in the business of manufacture and supply of coatings used for decorative and industrial applications. ABC also manufactures the resins required for the manufacture of coatings.
ABC aims to become one of the top five Decorative coatings companies world-wide by leveraging its expertise in the higher growth emerging markets. Simultaneously, the company intends to build long term value in the Industrial coatings business through alliances with established global partners.
The resin manufacturing plants-eight in number- are located in the USA, UK, Switzerland, China and India. The resin manufacturing plants are involved with the global supply of various types of resins to the coatings formulation units of ABC. The resin plants are categorized as follows:
NPI or New Product Introduction category which focus on development, manufacture and supply of new resins (eg. the plant in Switzerland).
LCR or Low Cost Receiver Category for scale-up of new resin manufacture and optimization of operating capacity and cost (eg. the plants in China and India).
Lean Category for cost effective supply of resins at the maximum possible efficiency (eg. The plants in USA and UK).
Most of the raw materials required for resin manufacture are sourced from reputed global suppliers. Select materials are sourced locally from sources in close vicinity of the plants.
A further eighteen manufacturing facilities of ABC are involved with the manufacture of coatings. The facilities cater to their respective regional demand (there are four regions viz., Asia Pacific North America Free Trade Area, Europe & Middle East and Latin America).
These coatings manufacturing facilities use the resin manufactured and supplied by ABC’s global resin manufacturing plants and/or resins sourced from other suppliers globally. The other materials required for manufacture
