How To Install A Set Of Tires
First you need to gather up your tools that you will need. An impact gun, the correct socket, a valve stem puller, and a wheel weight hammer. A torque wrench will also be needed for the end of the process.
Pull the vehicle into the garage, and onto the lift. Carefully raise the vehicle off the ground until the safety lock is enabled. Take off the hubcaps or wheel covers, to expose the lug nuts. Hook up the impact gun to the air hose. Place the socket on the end of the impact gun, and making sure you are going the correct way, shoot off the lug nuts.
Take the wheels off of the car and lay them out in one spot. Remove all of the wheel weights with the weight hammer. Let the air out and remove the old valve stems using the valve stem puller. You are now ready to change the tire.
Tire machines will vary, I am giving an example on a basic rim clamp machine. Wheel the tire over to the right side of the machine. Place it behind the side mount bead breaker. The lip on the machine should be on the edge of the wheel, on the bead of the tire. Press the middle pedal on the front of the machine until it breaks the bead of the tire. Rotate the tire around ensuring the entire bead is broke loose. Flip the tire around and do the other side the same way. With both sides of the bead broke down you need to place the wheel on top of the machine. Center the wheel on top and press the pedal on the front left and the rim clamp will grab the wheel and hold it in place. Next, grab the arm hanging in front of you and line it up with the wheel. When it is aligned pull the lever above it to tighten it up. Now grab the metal bar located on the bottom right of the machine and insert it between the tire and the head of the arm; prying up until the bead of the tire is above the head on the arm. Press the pedal on the right front of the machine and the tire will spin around pulling the top half of it above the head. Now insert the bar between the bottom bead and the head and repeat the process. The tire should be off the rim now. Slide the arm out of the way and remove the tire. Next check the area where the valve stem goes making sure it is clean. Pull a new valve stem through using the valve stem puller. Now grab your new tire and sit it on the wheel and apply some mounting lube to the bead on both sides. Take the tire and lay it on the wheel and pull the arm back over to the wheel. Press the pedal on the right front and the machine will begin to move around again. Press down on the tire as it goes around, and the machine will do the rest. Now you should have the tire on the wheel. Push the arm out of the way and rotate the wheel around until the valve stem is on your left side. Grab the safety arm on the left side of the machine and place it on the center of the wheel. Remove the valve cap and grab the air hose on the machine and inflate the tire using the pedal on the left side of the machine. Inflate the tire to the recommended air pressure. Remove the air hose and safety arm. Un-clamp the wheel with the pedal on the front left and you have now changed a tire.
Take the wheel over to the spin balancer and sit it up on the shaft of the machine. Grab the appropriate size cone and slide it down the shaft. Now grab the wheel tightener and spin it on the shaft until it is tight on
