My Myers-Briggs – Istp
Jon LaBahnProf. ChristovENR 1109/5/2016                My Myers-Briggs personality identifier is ISTP which stands for introvert, sensing, thinking, and perceiving. People with the ISTP personality type are fundamentally performers, their interests are more mechanical than artistic like ISFP’s. ISTP’s are not constantly active, rather they save their energy for adventures or projects that interest them, they are also hard to get to know because they need their personal space. These characteristics can help a group in certain ways but they also may have negative effects on some groups.        ISTP characteristics may help a group because if an ISTP is interested in an activity they will jump on it and work extremely hard on it. This same characteristic may also hurt a group because if the topic does not interest the ISTP they may not put forth the effort needed. Working in groups may be hard for people with these characteristics as well because they like to have personal space and working in groups rarely allows that.        In the paper bridge challenge my team really didn’t do too well because all of us were introverts so we didn’t have a leader. Without a leader we weren’t able to all be on the same page, some of us were supposed to do certain things that we weren’t too sure how to do, so our bridge didn’t really hold up all too well. I don’t think the team charter would have a big effect on the project at all. If my team had more time we would do much better because we would be able to test our bridge multiple times and we would know the most effective way to build it by the time it was due. In future team projects I will make sure we have a leader and that everyone in the group is on the same page and knows exactly what they’re doing and how to do their job correctly.
