Essay title: My First Job
This assignment required me to write a paper on one of several points. However, instead of touching on just one of these I chose to incorporate all of them into my paper.
This is the story of my first job and how it changed my outlook and way of life. It was really the key that made me start to grow up. In the last year, I have expanded my responsibility extensively. Several changes take place when you get your first job. Everyone has had a job at one time or another and the first is always the hardest to cope with. There are so many things that you don’t realize that are implied by having a job. This paper is about the sacrifices, responsibilities, and life lessons learned from working my first job in the food industry, while attending high school.
I started in August 2005 because my parents said, “If you want a car, you have to take the payments and responsibility of having one.” I tried to find a job at any place I could find. The jobs available to me were limited because I had no previous experience, and I was young. I quickly found out nobody wants to hire a young teenage person because they think we are not capable of handling a job and school at the same time. I was finally interviewed at (name of job place). The managers offered me a hostess position. I took the job instantly, because I needed the job and the money it would bring.
On my first day, I met a new friend named Randi. She was my trainer and was very friendly. I was extremely surprised because I don’t really like to talk to new people. I found that the fear of talking to others was not as great as I had built it up in my mind. It was a Friday night, so the restaurant was extremely busy. I was able to help out on my first day to ease the stress, and that gave me confidence that I could excel at this restaurant. I was able to cover entire shifts by myself very quickly and was accepted by almost all the servers.
