Gilbert Baker said he was strongly influenced on the making of the flag from the hippy movement. The Hippy movement involved World Peace and having everyone be treated equally. Equally was a major thing, so the hippy’s had made a flag with colors of the rainbow, symbolizing all the colors of different races. Baker found that very unique and was inspired to use that as a symbol, of the different types of people who were either lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender. Today the flag is flown all around by those types of people, to show their support and agreement to gay rights. In Genesis 9:8-17, it talks about the covenant God made to Noah, saying he will never destroy the earth with a flashing flood like that again and that he has set a covenant with Noah and all of living life by placing a rainbow in the sky. The rainbow, God said, symbolizes the covenant between Him and all living creatures of every kind on the Earth, when the rainbow appears through the clouds, that is what we are to remember and God will too. This could however be used by the LGBT as a sign of showing that God loves everyone and will not destroy them ever again. To prove that he has placed a rainbow in the sky so when it appears “we” will know that. The LGBT’s rainbow flag could possibly symbolize a covenant similar to what God made, saying that when it appears, it is a symbol showing the establishment of equal rights, regarding same sex marriage, among all life on the Earth. However, in Romans 1:18-32, it talks about the unrighteousness of men and women among the Earth. It explains how just because you believe in God, your acts will say different. In this passage it is very clear that men and men; women and women, together doing ungodly acts, is dishonoring to God and blasphemy.  The passage as well, seems like it is talking about the fallen of man and how because of mans turn-around from God not only effected God, but man himself it is a very unfortunate topic to talk about. It is also mentioned how God viewed all of the ungodly acts and what he said was this, “being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.” This passage to me really stands out, I think what Apostle Paul is trying to get across on this, is that God finds true disgust in the sin man does. The LGBT would not like this passage, this reason being, it really does call out the gays and how much God disapproves of those acts. If this had to tie into anything religious or spiritual with the LGBT I am sure they would use this as a passage showing how God does not “love” those who sin, which is not what this is saying at all, and it would be used more towards hatred to God.
