Project 2Project 2Academy training is for people that want to become a police officer. This training specializes in certifying people as law enforcement officers. With police academies typically people are hired at a department and then sent to that departments police academy for training. The academy training can be anywhere from 320 to 800 course hour and it takes about 6 to 8 months to complete (howstuffworks.com).
Police academy training provides officers with the basic skills need to perform daily police function such as writing tickets (white, 2007).Unlike academy training field officer training programs are created by police departments to train their new police officers either during their academy classroom or post classroom training. These programs help departments a better insight on the new officers suitability for a police career (careerpoliceofficer.com). The benefits of an FTO program include: a structured, standardized learning experience that prepared rookies for patrol: Application of academy training to real-life situations on the job: for exposure of rookies to veteran officers who can serve as mentors and role models: documented evaluation of rookie performance that can support agency decisions regarding retention, assignment and can offer protections against civil

Training
Training is a highly-effective, culturally-accurate set of skills training for policing training officers that is designed to teach, develop, and enhance their performance for an individual or local criminal justice-serving police department.
Training may also provide specific, individualized courses for all trained officers. Training may be completed from a single school of law, local police academy, or law enforcement academy. Prerequisite:
To obtain a basic reading or other reading requirement (such as Basic Legal Law), a training course may be obtained as part of an off-the-shelf contract under the BK-B program. Training requirements may also include subject matter expertise and career/patrol education. All students participating in training may be required to be enrolled in the same college, university, or other college/training program as their current officer. The CTSC does not require a college diploma in law enforcement.
FTO Program
Providing a variety of career police experience to recruits may be of interest to police departments. To obtain a job, an officer must complete a training course or training program in which two or more courses may be combined. A CTSC is not an official officer training program for officers. An off-the-shelf training program must not only cover the skills of law enforcement but must also include the experience of law enforcement personnel.
Training Courses
Training Courses
The FTO training program offers courses that are designed solely for professional and law enforcement personnel and are not part of either the college or law enforcement training programs.
A CTSC may use its own FTO program to train its recruits. For training courses that are not part of the college or law enforcement training programs, CTSC officers may submit to the College’s training center a training course that they feel is suitable for their department and can be applied to some other officer and job setting and is of the same caliber as the FTO course. Training Courses must be designed, approved and approved according to the college/training program’s academic requirements. Training Courses must be administered by individual departments and institutions located in the same city. Training Courses may be offered by local law enforcement agency. Training Courses are valid for a maximum of two years, if available.
Training Courses may be offered by local law enforcement agency. Teaching Courses must be administered by an individual department and may be held by a law enforcement agency or by a city, county or school. Teaching Courses must be administered by police departments without an FTO program. Training Courses may be obtained in the City-School-Facilities and College-District schools in the city of Chicago area. For more information and to receive approval to teach courses, contact the instructor.
