In this lab, the slope will be measured to see how the bicycle accelerated by graphing it using position and time. Instantaneous velocity is velocity at any instant of time. The instantaneous velocity of the bicycle is the velocity of the bicycle at any specific time between 0 and 8, which are all points on the graph. Acceleration is the rate at which velocity is changing. Therefore, as the person on the bike pedaled faster, his velocity increased. Displacement is the linear or angular distance in a given direction between a point and a reference position. In this lab, the area between the beginning resting point of the bicycle to the stopping point is the displacement.

In the experiment, the following steps were taken to get data for the accelerating bicycle.
First, 27 students lined up in a straight line each holding a position in meters. The positions held increased by twos. (For example, student #1 stands at 0 meters, student #2 at 4 meters, so on and so forth.) Some students both held the same position.

Each student was given a stopwatch and told to start it when the person on the bicycle began to pedal and stop the stopwatch when the front wheel of the bicycle passed what would be, solely based on perception, the meter mark.

After a few trial runs, each student was situated and the biker took off, accelerating in speed as quickly as possible.
As the biker passed each student, their stopwatches stopped and time was recorded.
I know from the graph that the bicycle is accelerating because the line is curved. If there was a velocity versus time graph, it would probably be a straight diagonal line because it is constant. I dont think our data is entirely accurate because some of the times are mixed up and impossible to be accurate. The times that people stopped and started their stopwatches were not exactly on point.
