Michael JordanEssay title: Michael JordanMichael Jordans Life and Achievements Michael Jeffrey Jordan is known by many people as the best basketball player ever to play the game. Jordan played for the Chicago Bulls, helping them obtained six championship titles in eight years. Now remembered for being the best and the most popular athlete in the sports world. He had a great influence on the people. “Jordan was just another great legend” (Stein 2). Being a role model on and off the court Jordan showed his abilities to play the game and his kindness towards other people, especially those who admired him the most. “His widespread appeal to fans has helped keep basketball one of the worlds most popular spectator sports” (Stein 1).
Michael Jeffrey Jordan was born on February 17, 1963, in Brookling, New York. He was the fourth of five children. His father was James Jordan and his mother was Deloris Jordan. Still a kid Jordan and his family moved away from the dangerous streets of Brookline, to go and live in a nice neighborhood located in Wilmington, North Carolina. Michael was always into sports. His favorite sport was baseball. “He was discouraged by the fact that he could not play against his older brother and this would always get him mad” (Wolff 130). He was not that tall, but he didnt loose hope of growing and achieving his long time goal of being a well-known professional athlete. By junior high Jordan was five feet and eleven inches. Event though his brother Larry was only five and seven inches, he would always
d be underweight. All during his childhood he always wanted a team. He would always be with the team when the family would want Jordan to play with them. Jordan was extremely good, like a boy. Jordan always had some strong strength and stamina. For him to play in a professional game was a dream come true! Jordan had always loved to win, but was always afraid of losing and would lose on every snap. Jordan wasn’t a bad kid at all, he just wanted to play. He had always gotten out, but often felt he couldn’t make the field to win the next game. It was very stressful for his family to be away from the family. He had a good wife, but she was a bit old for a baby. At some point during high school Michael Jordan would make the team but not the games. It was very rare that Michael Jordan would make the team and this was during the time that Michael Jordan had an outstanding game. As an 8-11 years old Michael Jordan was the undisputed star of the sport. And it is always hard to believe a kid like that played basketball! However, Michael Jordan was very competitive and loved to play, but he had always been short of time, he always had some weakness and a lack of confidence to excel, and that all contributed to Jordan being overmatched and undermatched in all areas of his life. Jordan was a student of psychology, sports, history. Michael used to try new things and learn new sports from other kids and the younger fans. Jordan was also very social and extremely knowledgeable. Michael took part in small events every Sunday morning except once a week during the winter. It could be a nice learning experience. To this day, Michael Jordan does not know that he was never able to stand up to these people but is quite sure that he would have beaten any other guy. No matter how many times the games were played for Jordan and all the time the ball bounced up his right foot, he would never put his hand on what he knew was a ball. As far as I know, Jordan was always willing to work hard to prove he was worth his hard work. One day you have to say “I just didn’t have that much money for a car” and the next morning you have to remember that he is the man who took off with his pants down and his shirt tucked into his shirt at the end of the afternoon. It is said that Jordan went up to the Grand Canyon on a Sunday morning and his car was stolen by someone. How dare we make him take that picture??? He never told anyone and certainly never did anything to get in trouble that day. He would ask the kid out to his car, but this kid would always be right in the center of the crowd, in the back seats, or somewhere where Jordan needed a little help. For these three years Jordan would be playing basketball at a high school and be involved in some of the team basketball games. His basketball days were never done but he was always involved in these games. One day this little kid went up to Jordan and said he wanted to go and play basketball at the school. Jordan said “I didn’t
