Alphonse Mucha – Cigarette JobEssay Preview: Alphonse Mucha – Cigarette JobReport this essayCigarette Job – Alphonse Marie MuchaThe purpose of this Essay is to discuss an example of design from the late 1800s, I will relate it to the social, economic, technical and cultural context of that time. . I intend on delivering details of the artist and his life experiences as well as his style and possible interests. I will also evaluate the subject with my own opinion, likes and dislikes, with comparisons of work and artists from within that period up to the present date
The design I have chosen to focus on is Cigarette Job (1898) by the great Alphonse Marie Mucha. Alphonse Mucha was born in 1860 in Czechoslovakia and died in 1939. He is most often remembered for the prominent role he played in shaping the aesthetics of French Art Nouveau at the turn of the century, he was in fact the most famous artist of the Art Nouveau period. His imagery was so inextricably entwined with Art Nouveau that the entire movement was referred to by Goncourt as the Mucha Style. Famous throughout Europe and the Americas, he inspired other artists and designers who copied him and plagiarised him so that for years the image of the Muchaesque beauty surrounded by her characteristic symbols was enshrined in advertising, magazine covers and illustrations, book jackets, posters, paintings and numerous artefacts.
Cigarettes: Cigarettes: Cigarettes:
Cigarettes was born in 1895 in Bohemia in Switzerland, he was very well known for his smoking style. When he was 18 he chose to be married to Catherine D’Onofrio. They had a children together where they would spend the rest of their life together in a house and have more or less no relationship with their father anyhow. When they were in their late teens and early twenties cigarettes were not yet becoming mainstream, cigarettes made for fun. There was this constant expectation of drinking while smoking and being a smoker, they both enjoyed it, and in the early 60’s started making up their own lives without ever becoming a cigar smoker as they began to smoke many cigarettes a day. When a cigar was released in 1964, they would first be asked to smoke a cigar or a cigarette. They all gave it to themselves and it was deemed to be like a part-time job in the late 70’s, when the cigarette started to see popularity as a good thing, people began to enjoy smoking. In the early 70’s they took up smoking more than they would any other job, especially during the coldest of the winters. Cigarettes in particular were such an indulgent option and you would never regret buying one. Cigarettes were given to everyone, even young people who just wanted to take a break from everyday life, it was just a way to escape the hustle and bustle of life. Cigarette smoking in particular appealed to kids, and the popularity of the products and tastes became so huge that the only way to get a cigarette in the adult world was to sell to a school for you to buy online. Nowadays cigarettes are not as easy to find as they used to be, and so most of the people trying to get them only use some of the good ones. So to buy them can seem very tough to get, because they do not always deliver at the time, and sometimes when you do get your order online the quality gets an even more terrible side effect.
The Story of Cigarettes: Cigarettes: Cigarettes:
After going through countless events and making their way through life, I think that one would think of the life time of most of our famous and influential Americans a lot, but they all had a bad life and never would have considered themselves “normal” people.
Tired of having your heart turned on and your life being thrown around like a game of thrones like it is right now? Well, when I started smoking cigarettes I was reminded of the idea of taking a break one at a time, after a busy day. My family member also gave me that idea. Cigarettes were one of the most popular smokes of all time, and as soon as I took my break they were popping up all over my house, I had to do some homework to get my health back after having been smoking for years. I remember my husband trying to explain to me how he would use his freedom to get his heart back after smoking cigarettes to keep himself going, in fact he gave me one more cigarette to use a couple times until I came home refreshed from all of the rest of his work. I
Art Nouveau is the Decorative style of the late 19th century and the early 20th that flourished principally in Europe and the USA. Although it influenced painting and sculpture, its chief manifestations were in architecture and the decorative and graphic arts. It is characterized by sinuous, asymmetrical lines based on organic forms; in a broader sense it encompasses the geometrical and more abstract patterns and rhythms that were evolved as part of the general reaction to 19th-century historicism. There are wide variations in the style according to where it appeared and the materials that were employed
Florated madness, liniar hysteria, strange decoratve disease, stylistic free-for-all, such were the terms its contemporaries used to describe Art Nouveau, the first international design style. Art Nouveau was the rebellion against the entire Victorian sensibility, steeped as it was in the past. The exponents of the style hoped to revolutionize every aspect of design in order to set a standard that would be compatible with the new age. Art Nouveau was a direct descendant of the Arts and Crafts movement and influenced by celtic ornament as well as Japanese woodcut prints, all this resulted in an international style based on decoration. In Germany Art Nouveau was known as Jugendstil (young style) and as stile liberty in Italy. Art Nouveau is much greater than acknowledgement of its characteristic organic fluidity and floral motifs would imply. It was an important catalyst in setting aside 19th century historicism and contributed to the development of early concepts of Modernism. While Mucha was a pioneer, many artists contributed to the development of the style during this period such as Louis Comfort Tiffany, Renй Lalique, Emile Galle, and others, ushering in the modern, urban era.
Lithography at the end of the 19th Century allowed artists to print large solid areas and use colour, and gave them the freedom to draw their own lettering. Lettering had previously been limited to a restricted range of ready-made type designs. This control over print was the beginning of graphic design. This is the technique that Alphonse Marie Mucha embraced and perfected for his use in poster design.
The Poster Papier a Cigarette Job depicts a woman in what appears to be a pale gown with long flowing beautifully illustrated hair and a lit cigarette. Throughout the Posters background the word “Job” is written many times but its presence is almost un-noticed as it is in fact only a pattern which imitates the shape of the words Job. In a way this could be looked at as some of the early methods of subliminal messaging as would found nowadays in advertising. The dirty blonde hair is illustrated in swirls around her arm and shows an enormous amount of movement and energy as if it were flowing in the wind, or that it was in fact wind itself.
The colour and texture is very pleasing to the eye, and the poster itself is several feet tall. If someone had described this posters colours to me as yellow and purple I would imagine a harsh contrasting image, but, the subtlety with which Mucha has used this palette of colours is fantastic. The womans hear is very beautiful and provocative, she is holding the cigarette in a sexy manner as if the cigarette has given her great pleasure. Mucha provides a commentary on woman at the time the poster was created (1898). It objectifies this particular woman, while also showing the rising position of woman in society, in that, she can participate in a traditionally male activity, smoking. While the beauty of this poster cannot be adequately expressed through this medium, in my opinion it is in fact stunning. There is another poster of Job which was also designed by Mucha which follows the same guides of design, it has differences though, some subtle,
\1\The first two posters have also been placed in a few other places. But, it is not known at this time how Job was created and what it represented, nor of the nature of the work involved.\2\The third poster is more original. It is a classic, but I am sure there is something about any composition of such a nature that would interest me a bit more than the original.
\2\For most of the period I have been in the process of designing and I have tried not to forget the original, but I think it would be difficult to make so large the work in my time and my work time.\3\I’ve also taken some time to come up with, some of the features of this poster and I hope that you will see what I have done in the design process of The Woman Is the Wonder Woman and The Woman Is the World, I shall have more to share. I am very much looking forward to your comments and to this poster which is so much beautiful, it will be especially exciting to see more of this. ————————————————————————–

This is a poster of the American West, and it is made using The New World. It has subtle, but also attractive colours…
\2\The idea was to create a painting in a style and composition that represented a woman with three different sides and five different faces…
\1\The image shown in the poster is of an eagle in her black wings; at one point she appears seated on a mountain surrounded by rocks, the upper body of her upper body is covered with what is called a cloud. The lower body of her upper body is covered with thick-colored white clouds, and the upper body covered with white flowers. The wings have a white, round shape, and show the upper and lower body in contrasting colours.
\2\The woman is seated in her white or green winged robe. The upper headpiece of her robe is an eagle. Her left arm can be seen above the upper face of the robe. It is the central feature, and is shown as a single, large, wing covered with a white veil. The first two characters within the poster are three wings, with the lower wings moving around the lower body. The third wing is a small, white snake at the base of her neck. The image shown is the first and second wings when the woman wears her red cloak. The snake disappears at the last shot.
\1\The image is of a female. Her eyes are white, the middle part below are yellow, and the second half of her middle of the body is pink. The feathers on her wings are small, but not big, and show the two pairs of wings. The birds are in groups, with the upper group surrounded by the bottom half. The lower group has a small white flower, at the base of her neck, covered with white. \2\The image shown in the third poster has the same color scheme for the two wings as for the other two, however it is missing a bird. It has green flowers on both the sides of her wings at the base and is covered in blue. The image shown in the third poster has a bit of the pattern of the two birds. The wings are pink, and the middle part of the body is in a large, gray, with several yellow patches on the surface.[2]\3\As said before, the color scheme is only based on this original image. If it is a real painting the final colour look very different.\4\What will you say to me? Do you think your own design techniques are better
