Affect of Modern Food IndustryThe modern food industry developed very quickly in recent years. The UK government said that the total customer’s expenditure on food, drink and catering services is £174bn in 2010 [1] while the cost on food increased by 20% between 2006 to 2009 [2]. More and more kinds of novel food impact on our life such as GM foods, fast foods, long-life foods, etc. Since we eat them every day, the influence of modern food industry grows deep and wide on our physical wellbeing lately.
Nowadays people make more concentration on health and find that some modern foods have an obviously negative effect on our body. Chemical additive can be found in vast majority of food which has been used for several decades. In the last 10 years we realized that many kinds of them damage us dramatically. Sudan I and melamine are the most famous illustrations. Another kind of modern foods is fast foods such as Mcdonald’s. The government survey demonstrate that we eat to much high fat and sugar food or drink which make up a percentage of our diet at 23%[3]. This bad behaviour cause obese directly. In 2008 25% of adults and 16% of children were over-weight [4]. Since there are so many risks on GM foods, the European Union has legislated in potential testing and labeling regimes of GM foods.
There are also some remarkable positive impacts of modern food industry. Can you imagine there are no frozen foods and long life foods in the supermarket? Without them people lives in the city will not eat any fresh milk or safe meat. You can taste the ocean fish with the help of modern deep-sea fishing. Research from the New Economics Foundation suggests that half of the amount of fish we eat in UK is from the ocean [5]. At the same time 48% of food we eat in British are imported from allover the world [6]. We can not eat Spanish vegetables or Japanese sushi without modern food processing and transportation industry. The modern agriculture and food processing industry also contributes on the
n a major contribution to the reduction of the global food crisis, leading to a 40% reduction in GDP (€5.8 billion in 2015).
As we make up more and more in every generation, a shift to renewable energy, more sustainable construction and food production, and reduced reliance on fossil fuels, it would be a big boost to the living standards of the British people and their children[7], as well as to the environment in general. So when we are asked what they say, many say that there is no better way of saving the planet than having more renewable power[/7]. To reduce our water use, and for other causes [8]our economic system needs to change. It would mean that more people live on local land, it would not require a further increase in the size of your state’s land holdings, it would not require a further 10% increase in greenhouse gas emissions of greenhouse gases to produce the same, and it would not require further reductions to food production or food security. Why should a country’s water supply become an economic liability? It is not because it’s too expensive to produce more. It is because it is inefficient at producing enough. The more waste we have of our own resources, the greater our economic suffering. In the shortterm our economy will suffer as a result. After a decade or more there will be some small changes in our lifestyle.
What will the government do if it decides to give this power to you? Will there be a national broadband network where it is your responsibility to use it? Why give this power to a person you love?
In many ways we are a country that has made the leap from small farms and small families to the modern state in the past 150 years. The country has been able to sustain our industry because we have given the state the power to provide and finance our growth by paying for our living and feeding our children. As such we are a much more prosperous nation and an economy that is healthier. We take the lead, we have been recognised as the nation to protect and build up to. By using energy sources that produce higher yields than our competitors such as nuclear, wind, biofuels, and electric generation we can do that. Our water resources and environmental protection and infrastructure are also well-established and we are the nation to protect our water resources as well as our future energy portfolio. It would make more sense to take control of this power in your own country if we provided it. We are going to do that because we also make a significant difference on climate change. A reduction in our dependence on fossil fuels for electricity, and our ability to use renewables and new technologies to fuel our growing economy. We can afford to invest in renewable energy in the UK, but our current energy policies
