Obamacare
Lately, there are several issues being debated regarding our healthcare system in the United States. More so because of the recent Presidential election that took place earlier this year. One of the biggest problems that is being debated on is regarding the United States healthcare insurance costs. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act also known as Obamacare has also been one of the biggest political topics for several years now. Â Originally, Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) was implemented to make health insurance more affordable for Americans, but in several cases, many would say it failed to do so. Many has argued that this new Act (PPACA) has made health insurance more expensive for some Americans, but it also created a tax for the uninsured. There are over forty-million (40+) people in the United States of America who cannot afford or access needed healthcare (Reinberg) and those that can do not get the quality of care they deserve. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) was an attempt to reform healthcare in the United States. The success of Obamacare depended heavily on the insurance companies and those who will buy insurance. One of the problems with healthcare in the U.S. today is its cost, which is why millions of Americans are left without health insurance due to the fact they cannot afford it.
The PPACA sought to extend coverage to about forty-million uninsured people in the United States, with the goal of slowing down the rapid growth in the cost of healthcare and improving the quality of healthcare by changing its delivery system. Some believe that Obamacare did not assuage the problem of cost but instead possibly made it more expensive. Other concerns were that the Act gave the government too much control over personal healthcare decisions and benefits, forcing a complex one-size-fits-all health system onto the states. There are obliviously pros and cons to Obamacare or when it comes to any healthcare policies or execution of any healthcare reform. Those who choose to sign up for health coverage will be able to be covered in the event of a medical need. For many of those who signed up, it will be there first time having any form of healthcare coverage/insurance. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will allow them to have better medical care and it will also provide a significant amount of peace of mind, especially for those with pre-existing conditions and have a family to support. Obamacare is not a perfect solution to America’s healthcare issues. As a result, there will be some people who may fall through the cracks, who may not be eligible for Medicaid and cannot afford their own insurance. To fix issues as such, adjustments would have to be made as problem arise. Making the plan more effective over time.
