Strategies for Self Care
Self care strategies:
Team B consist of three African American women ages ranging from early 20’s to late 50’s. However, when it comes to self-care strategies and ways of keeping their selves together with their busy lives and schedules, the women have many self-care strategies in common. All three women are full time employees who all share a common goal. They all aspire to further their education and receive a Bachelors degree in the Human Services field to assist others who are in need. To pursue their aspiration, these women are women hard at home and the University of Phoenix, obtaining knowledge, reading chapter, and writing endless papers every week to achieve their goal.
On top of those things, these three women are mothers first, and if asked, they will tell you, it does not matter what age your child/children are; Being a mother is a full time job. With that being said, each of these women have no choice but to embrace their alone time, because it does not come often.
Upon interviewing these women it was safe to say, as mentioned before, that they each shared common self-care strategies. They embrace their alone time. With each thing that goes on in the life, family life, school, work, etc, these women like enjoy having a chance to sit alone a have clear mind without having “something” to do at the time being. One team mate stated that when is alone, she meditates. The meditation gives her a peace of mind and helps her cope with issues.
All of the women enjoy music. Music help people enjoy the moment, it gives people a break from their worries (Markway, 2014). One team mate says that she enjoys listening to classical music music, another mentioned she enjoyed listening to gospel, the last says she enjoys listening to gospel and R&B.
Another self-care strategy that they all shared was spirituality. They mentioned that they used
