The Fall of one of the Largest Species
Essay title: The Fall of one of the Largest Species
Animal endangerment is bad. We know that by now. It means animals are going extinct by either themselves, humans, or the environmental causes. Thats bad for us humans and the environment, which is eventually bad for us. We depend on this, yet we are doing so many things that hurt the animals and the biosphere. For one, the oil dumping into the oceans. This hurts are oceans and the animals and plants that live in them. Another example is the poaching of animals to make fur or leather coats so that the people can be “in style”. The endangered species that I chose for the project is the African Elephant. One of the main reasons that I think the African Elephant is endangered is because of land loss. The elephants are losing their land, and are slowly dying off because of this. Right now I think that the African Elephants status is the same. I believe this because they are doing enough to keep them safe, but not enough to keep them reproducing, and
not going extinct.
The African Elephant is a widely known animal. This type of elephant is usually a brownish-grey color that can weigh up to 6 tons in males, or 3 tons in females. The male elephants are between 6- 7.5 meters long and have shoulders that can reach 3.3 meters. The females are between 5.4- 6.9 meters long and they have shoulders that can reach up to 2.7 meters. They have tusks that are used for fighting, marking, feeding, and digging. They usually live in tropical or subtropical moist forests or flooded grasslands. Some of the many places these huge elephants live is limited to but includes Angola, Benin, Botswana, Faso, CAR, Congo, Equalitarian Guinea, and many more places. The African elephants are mainly herbivores. So they eat foods like fruits, grass, twigs, leaves, and flowers. This food is very plentiful in their lands.
Many animals become extinct or endangered for a number of reasons. The African Elephant became endangered because of loss of habitat and also the trading of ivory( the animals tusks). The main people who are putting this animal in danger are mainly poachers or hunters. Though this
