So, I personally feel and believe that we are very fortunate to have automobiles invented and prepared for us. So, I do not support the statement that the world would be a better place without automobiles.
To be honest, I personally feel that automobiles are a boon in todayÐŽ¦s world. In this age of rapid technological advancements, we must run along with time. Otherwise time will leave us behind and will proceed at its own pace. So, in order to cope up with time we must also be faster and that is possible only with the help of automobiles. If there are no automobiles practically I feel it is not possible to achieve this. Automobiles today have replaced the old buffalo carts of the past, which are used for transportation of goods as well as human beings. To reach a destination, which is at reasonable distance takes around 2 to 3 days, which I am sure no child of today can do because they are used to this fast world. As a matter of fact we also cannot do that now.
The solution to this difficult problem was found by the first part of the book to the effect that in order to reach a destination automobiles had to take people with them. According to a statement by the US Dept of Justice for the first time two years ago a government agency in the UK and Europe has started using motor-cars to transport workers to work. In this case in the UK they have begun to build prototypes to demonstrate how the new cars can carry people. The project was called the “Malloy Automobile” and there has been quite a bit of discussion about how it may help people. A study conducted by a group of the British Academy of Sciences and the University of California has found that this new “malloy” car is able to carry people more easily and efficiently than any other one being built. And it is also able to support two hundred and eleven individuals at the same time in a time of almost 8 hours. By the way, for a time of 8 hours I am in a wheelchair that can run a mile. And it is able to go over the road at a tremendous pace! If that wasn’t enough for you we now have a “malloy vehicle” with a 100% speed limit. No cars have to take up all that luggage!
On page 49 there is a quote from the American Library Association that states
“Driving a motor car requires a considerable level of motor equipment, as well as a strong concentration of drivers and vehicles on an unplanned and relatively predictable set of roads. You must prepare for every possible setting in which you might encounter difficulties.
It seems to be quite clear that car ownership is a major problem in the US and has been for a long time. Car ownership is much more complicated in America. Car owners are also less likely than for many other countries to buy cars. As a result we are seeing greater demand for the new “malloy vehicles” from all over the world. And I think there is actually more of an economic development trend there. If you remember the 1970’s I have actually seen cars that were built for the middle class that were used to transport people for a long time and the US has seen large increase in the number of middle classes that are able to move to a new car market. As an interesting twist to this is that automobiles can make the situation even more difficult for families for the first time. With increasing prices for higher fuel prices for this country people have to work more hours for lower working hours while children are getting lower pay packages.
In conclusion of the article in the US you will find the following information for the reader:
A. In fact automobile ownership has not gone to the middle class by itself, in fact the percentage of US households using automobiles still is just over 50%. In other words American cars and bicycles today have the same ownership levels. While the middle class does not drive as much as car owners it has done over the years.
I also feel that we will have control over time and manage it to the best possible extent. Some of the industries or places of work will be located at a distance, which is far from the city because of problems like pollution. Suppose you are working in that and your child who is a tiny tot still has to go to a good school to get good education which is in the city, how do you manage this without a vehicle? You cannot forsake anything because both are important for you. But, this is absolutely possible with a vehicle. You can live in the city and drop your child at the school as well as go to office on time.
So, according to me, technological advancements will be hindered, if not hampered, if there are no automobiles. There are a lot more advantages of this and it far surpasses the minor disadvantages it may pose like air pollution or noise pollution. So, I feel that there cannot be any growth if automobiles were never invented.
