The Age of Responsibility
Many people believe the age of responsibility should be eighteen, and because of that, the legal age of becoming an adult in America is as such. Although the legal age to do somethings like seeing an “R” rated film is under eighteen. Personally, I believe that the legal age for all things, excluding things like abortion and driving age, should be set at eighteen. This is important to me because coming up to that age, I would appreciate my natural born rights as an American citizen.

The current age for renting a car is twenty-five in California, which wouldn’t be a big deal if the age of being a legal adult wasn’t what was previously mentioned. The problem arises when brand new adults want to move out. At that time most people don’t have money to buy vehicles or even more than a few gallons of gasoline. The obvious answer would borrow a car, “Oh wait” says the eighteen-year-old, “Guess you can’t do that”. That’s why I think you should have to be eighteen to rent a car. Statistics show that seniors are just as likely to get in a wreck with rental cars as teenagers. But we don’t take that right away from them very often.

Unlike most countries, In America, you have to be twenty-one to drink, but you can join the military at eighteen. Some people argue that twenty-one is a good age because some kids have problems with addictions related to alcohol, and that extra time can help people shake their dependence on that substance.
