IBM’s strengths come from their strategic core, which include the cloud, data analytics, mobile, social and security parts of the company. IBM was the first in cloud computing solutions and that industry continues to grow. IBM has a wonderful brand reputation and treats their employees well, in more than 170 countries.  Legally, they hold a very high standard of customer loyalty that other companies could take notes on. IBM was the 4th most recognized brand name in the world a few years back and has succeeded to stay in the top ten for over two decades. They are always in the top profitable companies in the United States.        IBM’s initiatives are growing healthily but its core is not. Their dependence in large businesses is helpful, but is also hurting them. It is bringing in fantastic business, but it is much more expensive to keep up. Legally, IBM has agreed to disclose known violations of government laws to the government, which could hurt them but it does cover their tracks. IBM has a good variance of customized products, but not much for the off-the-shelf type of customer. If the economy is slow, it is very difficult for this company to be successful.         IBM’s investments have expanded their company to new horizons. If they were to partner with Apple or Microsoft, it would significantly strengthen their business and be so much more successful than they could imagine. When IBM invested a very large amount of money for its data-processing AI platform, they did not realize that it would probably generate 10 billion dollars within a decade. Because IBM is licensing out their designs, it will make their company more known and reputable across the world. The opportunities are endless with the large variety of people that are working for the company.
