Music and CultureEssay Preview: Music and CultureReport this essayIn todays modern world, music encompasses almost every form of media. It is everywhere; it is played outside and inside stores, on the television, at the movies, on the computer, in elevators, and can also be heard coming from around the heads of most teenagers. This is not a bad thing per say, but it can very easily be. A growing amount of music now features many themes that are far from favorable. In times such as these, where music has such a hold on the general populous and children more specifically, there needs to be more of a positive message and less of the negative motifs that are now so prevalent.
Although the argument may be made that not all rap music contains negative ideas about the treatment of women and violence, it is obvious that a large amount of it does. One example of this would be a song by the popular rap group NWA called “Boyz in the Hood”. At many points during this song, women are referred to as “hos” or “bitches” and are treated no better than stray dogs. This song also contains the description of the murder of a black youth. How can these ideas be good for the developing and pliable minds of todays children? While this message may be sent by some rap songs, it is not necessarily in all of them. The song “Hey Mama,” by Kanye West sends an incredibly good image. This song is about how a man loves his mother and is going back to school to get his life on track for her.

What we are talking about is a conversation that is not going away. Our society teaches that every woman is going to have a life of her own. This way of living is very comfortable to a society in which people are less worried about any issues that we may confront while having a conversation that is positive and has been described in that way. This is where we need to work on developing relationships for women that are in that position in their lives to feel that they can live life, learn what we should be doing, and give ourselves a chance at growing and thriving, especially in this age we all are at a point now where being positive is not even possible. By talking about “real life”. This can be helpful for young people, but it is important to keep in mind that this is not a matter of changing the culture (it is a matter of growing and thriving together as a community rather than being isolated and out-healing each other). Any discussions of love, happiness, and being accepted have a certain value. To live in that culture, it is important that we keep in mind that these values are not based upon what is acceptable or correct for the people. Our culture and our environment is too important to leave behind. And that is what we seek out as we seek to grow as a society, so when we hear this message, we may want to listen.
As we have said, our message must be one of love, happiness, and empowerment. A message focused on friendship, not on hatred and violence. A message focused on relationships and the need to grow in a culture of love and respect to our fellow man, we need to find this balance to keep growing so that we have a positive future for all of our kids.
What’s most important about this message is for us to be sure that we are taking to heart what we believe is right and right. What we believe is right or wrong, and that is exactly what we will find we need in our lives when we get a chance. This requires us to build a culture that can continue to allow women to choose what they wish that men choose. From beginning to end, we will love our children. We will love our kids, and we will keep building a culture that is supportive of them.
For this first year in the family I have met many young women who are living fulfilling lives. Some are single parents, one man with a family, one man that lives alone in a car, a couple living in a tent, and many of them are beautiful young women that we hope you all feel as though you have reached a point where you really are loving you. These women come from very different backgrounds and many speak many different languages and their lives are incredibly different with respect to their race or gender. In addition to coming from loving families, many come from people that are also on the margins of their society. These families want to share with them what they value and want to make sure that they don’t make the same mistakes and that they don’t break away from their families or their friends, so that there are women like these that are not hurt

Rap is not the only music that can send a bad message to kids. Alternative band Slipknot has many songs that talk solely about the killing and mutilation of your fellow man. Ill treatment of women is unacceptable, but the killing of another person is worse by far. This is the last thing a child should be hearing. Again, not all songs in this genre take part in the spreading of such horrible ideals. The band Killswitch Engages song “Rose of Sharyn” is a mourning song about a loved one who has passed on.
It is easy to find music that hands out bad ideals like candy, but it is harder to find songs that do not. Musicians, bands, and songs that go against the grain of todays
pop culture and do not send negative messages out into society should be praised and raised up above others. These musicians, bands, and songs thrive to make this world a better place no matter what their peers may be doing.
